How long it stands without upkeep
Once the cupboard runs out of a resource, everything built from that resource starts losing health at a fixed rate. Full health to rubble is 1 hour of twig, 3 of wood, 5 of stone, 8 of sheet metal and 12 of armored — a damaged block gets proportionally less.
Grade and health
Health is what the hammer shows when you look at the block. Start from full and the answer is the full decay window.
Time left
Decay removes the same amount of health every hour, so half a wall stands for half the window.

What an upgrade buys you
Each grade at the same share of health, so you can see what one upgrade adds to your grace period.
| Grade | Full health | Full decay window | At 100% | Per hour |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Twig | 10 | 1h 0m | 1h 0m | 10 |
| Wood | 250 | 3h 0m | 3h 0m | 83 |
| Stone | 500 | 5h 0m | 5h 0m | 100 |
| Sheet metal | 1,000 | 8h 0m | 8h 0m | 125 |
| Armored | 2,000 | 12h 0m | 12h 0m | 167 |
Three things worth knowing
Decay only runs when the block is outside tool cupboard range, or the cupboard has no more of that block's resource. A stocked cupboard in range stops the clock.
Damage is per material. Run out of stone with metal fragments still in the cupboard and only the stone parts of the base lose health.
Keep the cupboard supplied and the same mechanism runs backwards: the base repairs itself at the rate it would have decayed, so a partly rotted wall comes back on its own.
Decay windows are the values on the Facepunch wiki page for the tool cupboard; block health per grade — 10, 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,000 — is what the game shows on a full-size block. Checked 12 August 2026. These are tuning values, so re-check after a force wipe.
