Every Rust Monument: Loot, Tiers and Keycard Guide 2026

Complete Rust monument guide 2026: loot tiers, keycards, radiation and clearing tips for Airfield, Launch Site, Military Tunnels, Outpost and more.

6 min read · 1,070 words

Introduction

Monuments in Rust are your progression checkpoints: that is where the best loot sits, where new weapon tiers open up and where most of the PvP happens. Knowing the monuments means knowing the economy of the wipe: where to grab a military crate, where to clear a Tier-3 zone without extra risk, and where to run when you need a specific resource. A new player loots "whatever he finds" — an experienced player plans a monument route.

This guide covers every key Rust monument with its loot, tiers, radiation and hard numbers (datamined, August 2026). Data from eip.gg, rustly.com, frozen-rust.com and mmokb.com.

How monument loot works

Loot is tiered: Primitive (no radiation) → Tier-1 → Tier-2 → Tier-3 (explosives, rare components, the best weapons). The type of monument determines the loot level.

Keycards are your pass to the good stuff:

  • Green Card — Tier-1 loot in green rooms.
  • Blue Card — Tier-2 in blue rooms.
  • Red Card — Tier-3/4 in red rooms.

Loot per container (datamined, build 2631.286.1, Aug 2026):

ContainerScrap (guaranteed)Drop entries
Barrel244
Wooden Crate536
Military Crate816
Elite Crate25146
Locked Crate154 (the most valuable!)

Locked Crate — a guaranteed Advanced Blueprint Fragment + Metal Armor Insert; from Cargo Ship (3 of them) or Chinook; requires a 15-minute hack. Respawn for all containers is 60 minutes (except the Locked Crate).

Best drop chances: Metal Pipe — Locked Crate 39.3%; HQM — Supply Drop 64.7%, Locked Crate 53.2%; Targeting Computer — Locked Crate 55.3%, Bradley 52.4%; C4 — Supply Drop 26.5%, Helicopter Crate 25.7%, Bradley 20%; LR-300 — Locked Crate 24.2%; MP5A4 — Supply Drop 18.3%.

Monument overview

Airfield — the "airport" (~20 crates)

One of the biggest monuments (~20 crates on average) and one of the three Red Card monuments. Popular and dangerous: every building is accessible, plus runways, 3 hangars, towers, an office and underground concrete tunnels.

Launch Site — the heart of PvP

Best loot + the toughest NPCs: the Bradley tank, 9 scientists, a patrolling tank. The largest monument in the game. Tier-3: explosives, rare components, the best weapons. Clearing it takes a team and preparation.

Military Tunnels — the underground maze

~29 scientists (the densest NPC population in the game), a 3-card puzzle green→blue→red, radiation 11+ at the entrance and 26+ deeper in — a hazmat is mandatory. Recycler outside. Better as a duo/trio; solo is brutal. A full clear takes <8 minutes, otherwise the scientists respawn.

Dome — guaranteed military crates

The highest number of guaranteed non-locked Military Crates in the game. Radiation inside, none outside. Easy entry: climb up the dome.

Water Treatment Plant — the best radiation-free monument

The best monument with no radiation — you can walk in naked on day one of the wipe. Lots of crates, simple puzzle.

Power Plant — Tier-3 with an oil refinery

Plenty of loot: Military and Elite crates, a red card room, 2 recyclers and an oil refinery. Radiation is high — you need 25-30+ protection.

Train Yard — solid Tier-3

Lots of loot, but you have to unload the wagons. Medium radiation (20+).

Sewer Branch — the best Tier-2

The simplest puzzle (parkour), a must-visit from the first days of the wipe. Low radiation.

Safe zones: Outpost and Bandit Camp

Outpost — trading hub #1

A safe zone with auto turrets: vending machines, a recycler, research table, repair bench and drone marketplace. No loot (no crates) — services only. The economic center of the wipe.

Bandit Camp — the second safe zone

Casino (roulette), Air Wolf (helicopters for scrap), recycler, vending machines, repair bench. It also has an oil refinery (unlike Outpost).

Resource monuments

  • Giant Excavator — the fastest resource gathering (sulfur, metal, HQM), if you can pay for it and defend it from other players.
  • Quarry — 90 HQM for 360 lowgrade per hour — slow and not worth it for most players.

Raid loot: helicopter and Bradley

  • Patrol Helicopter drops 4 Helicopter Crates when destroyed (they burn, you cannot open them until the fire goes out; the wreck is visible on everyone's map). C4 — 25.7% chance.
  • Bradley drops 3 APC Crates, respawn 1 hour. One of the few sources of MLRS Rockets and C4 (20% chance).

Clearing tips

  1. Combine your routes: if you are heading to Airfield, pick up barrels and green rooms along the way.
  2. Buy keycards at Bandit Camp (green 15 scrap, blue 40, red 80) — cheaper than hunting for them.
  3. Do not go to Launch Site/Military Tunnels solo in the first days of the wipe — experienced PvP groups are waiting there.
  4. Recycle before you leave: Military Tunnels has a recycler outside — turn the extra stuff into scrap.
  5. Monument layouts spawn differently because of procedural generation — learn the routes, but do not expect a 100% match every time.

FAQ

Which monument should I loot on day one of the wipe?

Sewer Branch (Tier-2, simple puzzle, low radiation) and Water Treatment Plant (no radiation). Both are doable naked or with a minimal kit.

What do I need for red rooms?

Red Card + hazmat (or 25+ radiation protection) + a weapon. Red rooms are found at Airfield, Launch Site, Military Tunnels and Power Plant.

Where do I get an LR-300?

From a Locked Crate (24.2% chance) — Cargo Ship, Chinook. Or on the Bandit Camp black market for 500 scrap.

How much scrap do crates give?

Barrel 2, Wooden Crate 5, Military Crate 8, Elite Crate 25 (guaranteed, datamined). Respawn 60 minutes.

Are Outpost and Bandit Camp safe?

Yes, the auto turrets kill anyone who gets aggressive. But the road there is not safe — you can get ambushed. Do not carry all your scrap across the map; use drones or plan your route.

Conclusion

Monuments are the progression ladder in Rust: from the green rooms of Sewer Branch to the red rooms of Launch Site. Learn what loot sits where, which cards you need and how much radiation each spot has — and every monument run will pay off. Start with the easy ones (Sewer, WTP), work up to the mid ones (Dome, Train Yard) and only then take on the heavy ones (Launch Site, Military Tunnels) — preferably with a team. Monuments are where Rust gets interesting: loot, PvP and risk all in one package.
